This PTSA serves the children in the Kulshan Middle School community which includes the residences and businesses in the Kulshan Middle School attendance area.
This PTSA was incorporated on June 3rd 1993 and assigned corporation number 2-474898-0. It was assigned UBI 601 473 161. The Treasurer is responsible for filing the Annual Corporation Report. The registered agent for this corporation is the Washington State PTA.
This PTSA is registered under the Charitable Solicitations Act, registration number 2556. The Treasurer is responsible for filing the annual registration (must be filed by May 31st each year to avoid penalties).
This PTSA was granted tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) on August 5, 1995.
The current Treasurer is responsible for filing IRS Form 990 EZ prior to November 10th. The Treasurer must show the elected officers the completed form by November 5th. The IRS Form 990 EZ shall be sent by USPS Certified Mail.
The membership service fees for this PTSA shall be nine dollars ($9) per person or sixteen dollars ($16) per household (two people).
The elected officers of this PTSA shall be President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Any elected position may be held jointly by two (2) people. Each co-position shall be entitled to voice and vote at a board of director’s meeting.
Voting for officers or nominating committee positions may take place at a meeting, by mail, or by electronic transmission. Adoption of the budget, adoption of standing rules, election of the nominating committee, and election of officers shall take place at general membership meetings. Meetings shall be held at the direction of the board of directors. A minimum of three meetings will be held each year.
Board meetings will be held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month with the exception of the months that General Membership meetings are held.
This PTSA shall approve its annual operating budget in the spring of each year.
The PTSA will keep a legal documents binder at Kulshan Middle School in the locked PTSA closet located in the staff room. Copies are to be made for the president and secretary and kept in a legal documents notebook.
The PTSA will conduct a financial review of its books and records each year at the close of the fiscal year, June 30th. An audit committee of at least three (3) people who are not signers on the PTSA account shall conduct this audit. The audit must be completed by July 30th.
The signatures of three (3) elected officers shall be on the signature card for the PTSA’s authorized bank account.
All reimbursement requests shall include a receipt and shall be submitted to the treasurer. All requests for reimbursement must be received by June 25th.
The students of Kulshan Middle School shall be considered honorary members of this PTSA without voice, vote, or the privilege of holding office.
Three (3) Golden Acorn Awards may be presented annually to an outstanding volunteer(s).
One (1) Outstanding Advocate Award may be presented annually to recognize advocacy work on behalf of children and youth.
One (1) Outstanding Educator Award may be presented annually to an outstanding teacher or educator.
The vote of this PTSA for the position of Washington State PTA Region Director shall be determined by the board of directors.
The voting delegates to the annual WSPTA convention shall be determined in the following order: Incoming President, Ongoing President, Incoming Vice President, Incoming Secretary, Incoming Treasurer, Ongoing Vice President, Ongoing Secretary, Ongoing Treasurer. The board of directors shall determine the number of delegates to be funded by the PTSA.
The voting delegate(s) to the WSPTA Legislative Assembly shall be determined in the following order: Legislative Chair, President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer. The board of directors shall determine the number of delegates to the funded by the PTSA.
